second place. Schwemmer crashed th e

The K&N effort came to an end o n
the 65th la p with a blown engine
letting I Can J a m 's J im Les lie into the
lead. When Les lie pitted on th e 77th
lap for a rider cha nge, Northstar went
into th e lead, butonl y briefl y. The lead
went back and forth u nt il the 80th la p
when the engine blew o n I Can J a m 's
Ro bert Zerbisias.
"They had us on horsepower, we
had them on ski ll," I Can J a m 's Jim
Les lie said af ter the disappointing
DNF. "We made some mi stakes like
not havin g eno ugh gas in th e beginn in g, so we broke th e riding do wn to
45-mi n ute conve rsio ns. He was going
to do 15 m inu tes a t th e end. H e o n ly
ended up do ing 10."
Wh en I Can J am blew, th e Northstar
GTU pits became a scene of ca u tio us
celebration, th e caution removed a few
laps la ter when the checkered flag fell
after 81 la ps.
