Bob Balnis grabbed th e lead a t the sta rt of the first mot o, while Greg Calletta followed with j ohn Graziano in third. Grazian o miscued the camel back jump and dropped back , handing Mike Peter s th ird, Then Balnis crashed over the triple jump, let ting Galletta slip into the lead with Peters following in second. In the back secti on; 'Peters made h is move into first place, making it a Honda tri o in the top three with Peters , Galletta, and Mark Shridan moving into third. Sheridan, however, took over seco nd after Galleua washed o ut in a turn. Chris Schmid then took over in third, while Sherida n remounted for th e chase in fourth.
