In the runoff, Pfetzin g had a sma ll park off tum two forcing Lucero , on o ne of Faria's mo torcycles, to tak e evasive acti on to avoid hi tting h im. T hat gave Pfetzing control. Lucero went to th e outside on th e las t lap , but cou ld not find the necessary tra ction. Pfetzing beat him by two lengths for th ird overa ll. McIntyre and Fox won th ree of their four rides o n the nig h t, but wh en their wheel disk came off in round two , they were not allowed to restart and scored zero points. T ha t cost them the title. They ended up tied with Dempster and Lewis for second with nin e points each. McIntyre and Fox and Dem pster and Lewis were slated to come back for a runoff for second, but a fight in the pits between a sid eca r ri de r a n d ano ther team 's mechanic resu lted in a postponement of th e runoff.
