Las Vegas, Nevada 's Jason Par tridge h it th e jackpot in 85cc (7-11) competition as the Kawasaki rider ra n off three straight wins to pick up the championship ahead of Oh io youngs ter Brock Sellards (3-2-3) an d Flori da 's Ricky Carmichael (2-10-2). Carmichael, who lists Fox, PJI , Scott, and Barr 's Competition among his spo n sors, redeemed himself with a hardfought 65cc (7-11) win over Gear Racewear/Bo u leva rd Cycle-backed Sellards. Carmicha el won the first and last motos of the division, sandwi chi ng Sella rds' sole win of the week. Defending Pee Wee class champ Ch ris Con sidine was third overall. In the 51cc Stock (4-8) class Oklahoma 's Johnny Marl ey won th e titl e with two moto win s and a second. New Mexico 's Justin Buckelew was the runner-up after battl in g with Marl ey th ro ughou t the five-day event. Michiga n's J oshua Knight was thi rd overa ll to give Yam ah a a top th ree sweep. Kawasak i-mounted Gene Naumec was the best amo ng the biggest bikes as he comp letely devastated th e Open A class field on a Scot tiAXO/ Dun lop/ Team Green-backed KX500. Naum ec reeled off three powe rful wins on h is way to hi s first-ever Lore tta Lynn 's win. CMC Racing/ An swer/ Sco tt USA rider Todd Gardner overcame first and third heat difficulties to record the Open B/C class cha mpio ns hip. Gardner started outside the top 20 in race one before climbin g up to th ird behi nd California 's Larry Lawrence, Sou th Carolina 's Steve Starnes and Oh io's Shaw n Gates. Gardner won race two and then bab ied a coughing engine th rough heat three for second p lace , good en ou gh for th e titl e. Lawrence went 1-7-1 for second overall with CMC/Phill ips/B rid gest one/ Ocal a LFC-backed T.]. Bran tley taking th ird . Cernic's Suzuki rider G reg Krein brook put the hurt on the 250cc B Stock class, running off to two convincing m ot o wins and then letting tit le conte nder Dan Ulven past in the fina l corn er to secure the cha mp ionship wit h 1-1-2 moto fin ishes. In each of the first two motos Kreinbrook came from mediocre starts to di splace Or egon' s Ulven as the leader. In race three it was Ul ven 's turn to battle back from a poor start but, even after moving past Kreinbrook in the fina l corne r it was no t eno ugh for th e overall. H is 2-2I finishes bettered CTi/Fox-b acked Davey Castillo's 4-3-4 for th e runnerup spot.
