At th e start of th e first moto , Ricky Andre exi ted the firs t tum with th e ho leshot, but Sco tt Ch esser quickl y d ispatched And re on the first lap and star ted to build a cus hi o n over the pack. After two laps. Ch esser had buil t a six-second lead o ver Andre. who was holdin g off Barry Wei nberger. Chad Montero and Vaug hn as th e remai nder of the pack began to spread out. Chesser locked on to Montero 's rear wheel as Vau ghn jo ined the battle for th e lead. With two laps to go, Vaug h n passed Ch esser to ta ke o ver seco nd pl ace. Montero began to slow wi th a n at tir e, and had to limp th e fina l two laps to th e chec kered nag . Vau ghn a nd Chesser took full advan tage and reclaim ed fir st and second at the fini sh. , When the second mota began Vaughn bumped bars with Montero in th e first tum and went to me gr ound Montero began to pull away from the pac k as Vaughn go t underway in last pla ce. Vaughn charged back . and by th e end of lap three had climbed to fourth pl ace. At th e halfway point Montero held a ln-secc nd lead o ver Ch esser , who was bein g stalked by Vaughn. Moural J r. was soon on the move as he pa ssed his fa ther before the end of th e first lap. Another rider on th e move was Shane Obendorf who had gated near the back of the pa ck. By th e end of th e second lap, Obendorf had taken th ird from McG ow an a nd set his sigh ts o n Mou ral Sr. With j ust two laps to ' go, O bendor f caught Moural Sr. and tried repea ted ly to pa ss o n ly to be repassed eac h tim e. Finally, on th e last lap Obendorf was able to stuff under Mou ral Sr. in a highbanked berm and make th e pa ss stic k: At th e [Jag, it was Mo ural Jr. taki ng th e wi n wi th Obendorf and Moural Sr. second and thi rd. respectively.
