Chandler said "Everyone was in the
same position. The tires started slidi ng
around, bu t 1 kind of enjoyed it, It was
just a flawless day. Everybody did a heck
of a job:"
"Tha n k God for the red flag,"
Russell, who has been unable to train
since hurting his ankles at the last round
in Wiscon sin, said " I couldn't do
anyth ing with Dou g today. 1 was so
tired 1 started finding myself staring at
things. I'd go through the chicane and
look right at the tires. 1 was dull after
the red flag, and going back out there
wou ldn 't have been smart. "
On Sunday, Ru ssell won the Palmetto Kawasaki Superbike Challenge,
a IO-Iap invitational race wh ich earned
him $2500. Russell raced tigh tly with
James for three laps until the Ducati
851 expi red. Bu t not before J ames
turned the fastest lap of the weekend,
a 1:15.31, un der clou d cover on a cooler
race track and after switching to Dunlop
tires. Jimmy Adamo inherited second
p lace with Mark Chin finishing third.
Chandler elected not to participate in
the race.
