Tho 60cc cl a ss was topped by Dyl on Cra wford via wins in both motes. Casey Smith finished seco nd both times out and Phil Pedrojeni was th ird in both races. A lar ge field of l25 cc Beginner class racers PUl on a n exciting show. Buzz \Vilson won the firs t moto with Mathus Carmichael taking second. CA, JUNE 22 Alan Christian scored h is first win of the 1990 sea son in a photo finish in thr Coors Handicap main at th o Orange County Fairgrounds. Chris Castin, alone on the short yardage, took the initial lead as severa l riders tangled in tho first bend. Nobody went down a nd Andy Northrup relieved Castin of the lead on th e ack straight. The first lap ended with Nort hrup and Mark Ha nna h sla mming together on the front straight as they ballied or first . By the late stages orthrup, Hannah and Christian ha d pulled way fro m the balance of th e field. As they came 011 turn two the fina l time, Northrup parked in front of H annah a nd Han nah parked to avoid h im . Christian took full advantage and steamed inside Ha n nah for second and then pulled alongside the lead " . Out o[ turn four the last time, Christian hooked up and wheelied but beat Northrup lo th e checkered by an ant's eyelash and received a standing ovation. Hannah ended up third. In Scratch racing the honest rid er on th e circuit, " Flyin ' .. Mike Faria, scored the win on the Ru sse ll Racing/ OIl·Shore/Sh oei / T eam Scopeli ue/High Po int Weslake. 011 the pol e, National Champion Bobb y Schwaru guided his Weslake to th e front when th e event sta rted. Faria worked th o dirt from the outset and was nearly even with Schwartz when th e first lap ended. Faria stayed wid e and he got the best drive in turn two . Schwaru let it dr ift wide 0 (£ the comer. but it was too la te. Fari a had th o position and streaked into th e lead . Even thou gh Faria n ew by, he cou ld n 't pull away. All he p u lled was a three rider freight tra in co nsis ti ng of himself, Schwartz and Steve Lu cero. They finished in that order in tigh t formati on. Fourth went to Sha wn McConndl. Mike Faria (outside) scored a clean sweep in Division One racing at Inland Motorcycle Speedway. Here he goes around Andy Northrup. set out all" Pierce. O n the fina l lap, Yates was able to catch Pi erce on the backstra igh t an d passed him for the win. Pierce and Lopez finished second and third, respec tively, In the seco nd rno to, Lopez took the lead at the start fo llo wed by P ierce and Yates. With two laps to go , Yates made his move, passing Pierce and moving in on Lopez. As these three went through the rockers both Yates and P ierce passed Lopez. Not happy with second, Pierce then passed Yates over the step jump on the final lap, Bu t Yates didn't give in . With one turn left before the fin ish. Yates saw his chance and out-jumped Pierce over the hill jump. Yates took the win and the overall with Pierce second and second overall : Lopez fin ished third. Resul ts MINI: I. So YClln (Yam) : 2.
