'Tuff followed into second but, into circuit lour, Lenny, hol ding a good lead, experienced engine problems a nd Tull passed him o n the front straight lor the lead and th e checkered Ilag. 'The Scra tch ma in was developing to be a repeat per forma nce, Le n ny McBnde sat o n th e pol e position wi th Tull in two, and Burge and John Lewis ga ting lrom three and lou r. Off the sta r t Len ny beat the field tum o ne with Tuff a hall bik e leng th behind, and co ming 011 turn lour Lenny's engine began fa hering and T ull cru ised into first o n the lro nt straight at the end 01 lap one.
