The Chesterfie ld Suzu ki rider has now claimed five of the six m o to s run thro ugh three rou nds of th e World C hampions hip 250cc MX Series a n d is 2i points a head o f 125cc World Champ io n T rampas P ar ker i n th e sta nd in gs. American Parker fin ished sixth overall with a 3-8 score, while Ho lla nd 's John va n den Rerk a nd Engl and's Rob H erring mad e it a Suzuki sweep o f th e top thr ee overa ll po sitions. Van den Berk took th e lead at the sta rt o f th e first moto follow ed by Parker, wh o was fastest in tim ed practice, and H o lla nd 's Dave Strijbos. Many rid ers slid out o n the fresh lywatered, hard -packed tra ck on the first lap, including Puzar, Strijbos passed Parker but th en cra she d, whi le P uza r was cha rged back fro m hi s o pe n ing -la p mi shap a nd closed in o n Van den Berk near th e end o f the 40-minute-plus-two-lap mot o. Puzar ca ugh t a nd pa ssed th e Dutchman a few hundred yards befor e the finish lin e 10 tak e th e win. Dutch man Gert-jan van Doorn foll ow ed Pa rker across th e line. whil e Strijbos reco vered fro m his cras h to fiilish sixth behind It al ian ;\Ii ch el e Fanton. Van den Berk ran o ut o f gas on th e last lap. but Puz ar had been g iven th e two -lap sig na l as he crosse d th e line after 40 m inut es a nd o ne second had ela psed. Van den Berk p ro tested th at the race was th erefore o ne la p too long. the jury found him to be correc t a nd he was reinstat ed in th ird p lace. H erring recovered fro m a midpack start 10 claim th e runner-up spot afte r pa ssing Strijbos and Parker a lo ng th e wa y.
