Sgheiza hugged th e pol e in the slippery turns
a nd forced the hard-ehargi ng Murphree 10 the
outside. On several occasions Murphree had
trouble sta ying on th e back stretch and his
wide slides there cost him valuable ground
every time. With three laps 10 go Murphree
settled down and was co n ten t to in ch up o n
Sgheiza. Just after the white nag n ew the pair
en tered tum one with Sgheiza hug~ing th e
po le and Murphree sli ghtly 1 hIS right.

Some ho w this move surprised Sgheiza and he
stayed down low. Wilh exira effort Murphree
th is lime held to th e narrow gr oov e. Coming
o ut o nto th e back stretch Murphree did not
sli p off into the slippery edge and had a clear
lead going into turn three. At th e chec kers
it was Murphree over Sg heiza and Willard in
a lin e while Miller and Stevenson were a bit
fu rt her behind.

New Jersey's Jerry Seip sho wed th e local Long
Island Sports Committee Experts how to
master th e \Vestha m pto n sand by winning a ll
Iour Expert motos.
Vin cent Allegreta walked away with th e
Sen ior Mini overall with sta rt- to-finish rides
in both motes. .The racing action was for
second a nd th ird . Brian Berry, Jamie Pilto n
and Brian Simpson a ll diced together for th e
number two spot in both motos. Simpson
wound up second in both rnotos, followed by
Jamie Pilton in third overall.
Ed Dondero led both rnoro s from th e sta rt,
to fini sh with a perfect I-I overall in the 1213 Mini class .
Eric Flagg fin ished second o vera ll but had
to o verco me a Iirst-moto th ird place finish
behind John Jasinski. Jasinski mad e a daring
double lump pass on th e last lap of moto o ne
to catch a nd pass Flagg just before the finish .
Jasinski co uld no t repeat his first moto effor t
a nd finished third overa ll for the da y.

Garcia kept the pressure up bu t co u ld n' t find
an o p po rt u nity to pass. These two finished
