The occasion was the third round oltheAMA WISECO/YAMAHA/YOKOHAMA Grand National Cross Country Championships,themost presligious woods racingseries going. Sixteen individual class victories were up for grabs among the two hundred-plus competitors as wellasthe coveted Overall trophy, which is awarded to the fastest finisher inthethree-hour run.With numerous creekcrossings, off-cambers and hillclimbs lining the seven-mile course, theoutcome of therace would hinge on one thing -l1acllon. Intheend it was the competitors thatengaged therugged High Point course equipped with the best tires that succeeded.
