High PoInt Raceway, PA On Sunday,April22. 1990, some ofthebest woods racers inAmerica gathered at High Poim Raceway insouthweslem Pennsylvania todobattle. The occasion was the third round oltheAMA WISECO/YAMAHA/YOKOHAMA Grand National Cross Country Championships,themost presligious woods racingseries going. Sixteen individual class victories were up for grabs among the two hundred-plus competitors as wellasthe coveted Overall trophy, which is awarded to the fastest finisher inthethree-hour run.With numerous creekcrossings, off-cambers and hillclimbs lining the seven-mile course, theoutcome of therace would hinge on one thing -l1acllon. Intheend it was the competitors thatengaged therugged High Point course equipped with the best tires that succeeded. The winner's circle was filled with riders using YOKOHAMA Tires asfourteen of thesixteen class leaders got there on YOKOHAMAS. The victors in almost every division at High Point. from the minicycles to the Open bikes,experts to beginners, excelled withproducts from the complete YOKOHAMA line. The results also mean thatYOKOHAMA equipped riders have nowcaptured more than twothirds ofthe class wins after three rounds ofthe GNCC Series. Scoring the Overall win at High Point was lancaster, Ohio's TimShephard, anexpert Yamaha riderwho pointed to his YOKOHAMA Tires as a bigdifference in therace.
