H e's now 341 Get a new helm et, Rob in! 1994'ISDE to be held in Oklahoma uring an Ap ri l 27 meeting with Governor H en ry Bellmo n , American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) President Ed You ngb lood anno un ced tha t the 1994 Int ernational Six Days Enduro (ISDE) will be held in Ok lah o ma. Based o n the 31,000·acre John Zin k Ran ch near T ul sa , the 1994 ISDE is expected LO attract over 300 competitors from at least 20 nation s. Onl y once in the 78year h istory of the famed event has it been held outside of Europe and that occurred in 1973 wh en the Uni ted States hosted the six-day event, the n kn o wn as th e Intern at ional Six Days Tria ls. . AMA 's Youngblood said tha t once the FIM granted th e AMA the right LO hos t the 1994 ISDE, a site selectio n process began which LOok over a year to comp lete. U lt imately, AMA selected the John Zink Ranch site, with the Tulsa Trail Riders serving as' event organ izers. The Okl ahoma site was selected over p roposal s fro m groups in Pennsylvan ia , Michigan , Idaho and California. Youngbl ood said that factor s leading LO selection of th e Tulsa si te incl uded: ·The Tulsa T rail Ri ders are h ighly expe rienced in organizing ISD E-type events and in the com plex timi ng and scoring system used to race bo th teams a nd individual competitor s. · Access LO the privately-owned J ohn Zink Ranch will elimi nate the likelihood of enviro n men tal ,controversy. T he cost of organizing the ISDE is estimated at $250,000. ' AMA estima tes that ISDE competi tors , support crew mem bers and ent husiasts will produce over $12 mill ion in econo mic stimulatio n for th e T u lsa area , as well as attract intern at ional medi a coverage of the 1994 ISDE. American first ente red th e event in th e 1950s, and th e AMA has entered officia l U.S. team s since the early 1970's. T he United Stat es ha s never won the ISDE World Trophy, whi ch is the hi gh est team honor of th e even t. But American riders did cap ture the ISD E Silver Vase whe n the 1973 event was held near Dalton, Massachusetts. The Silver Vase was the second most prestigious award available at that 1973 event, in which Czech oslovak ian rid ers cap tu red the World Trop hy. D Name merican Honda has announced price redu ctions of up to $ 1200 on seven 1990 models and eigh t " left-over" 1989 models, effective May l. Heading the list with the largest reduction in sugges ted retai l price is the 1989 Pacific Coast which dropped $1315, from $7313 LO $5998; the price of the 1990 Pacific Coast has been redu ced from $7698 to $6498. O ther street models that are now bein g offered at reduced prices are the 1990 CBR IOO OF, wh ich has been reduced from $7598 LO $6998; Honda's Pacific Coast the 1990 CB-I , $4298 LO $3698; the 1989 CR·I , $4063 to $3498; and the 1990 NS50F, $ 1798 to $1498. Off-road models o n the 'reduction list are the 1990 XR 250R which now carri es a price tag of $2998, a $400 drop from its origina l $3398; the 1989 XR250R, reduced from $3067 to $2848; the 1990 CR500R, $4098 to $3798; 1989 CR500R, $3811 LO $3311; 1989 CR250 R, $3718 LO $3218; 1990 CR I25R, 3498 LO $3298; 1989 CR I25R, $3067 LO $2767; and the 1989 CR80R, $ 1858 to 1758. Finally, the 1989 Pil ot, a fou r-wheel off-road vehicle, has been reduced $500, from its origi nal suggested reta il price of 5998 to a new suggested retai l price of $5498.
