Over 150 en tries tackl ed th e sa ndy, mostly nat ural terrain co u rse cut o u t o r the Calirornia hills id es. T he eve n t was host ed by the Ca lilorn ia Racin g Club (CRC) . The raci ng was fierce in th e 125cc Expe rt clas s, with Broussard topping th e rirst mot o o ver Kawasak i emp loyees Norm Bigelow o n a Kawasak i and Rick Asch o n a Penton . However, Asch was not to be denied in race two , and kep t h is Sachs motor singi ng fo r six lap s to earn the win . Brou ssard came in secon d a hea d 01 Bigelow to earn th e o vera ll. Bro ussa rd jumped o n his Honda and won the first 250cc Expert mo lO, wh ile Montesa p ilot J ohn Handeli n had some prob lem s and linished sevent h.
