Padgett fell in a ru t on the next lap , a llowing Kizzar to move into second behi nd Lough. At the checkered flag Kizzar was on the march bu t he co u ld n ' t catch Lough. L ibbey crossed the finish line third followed by Jeff Shuler. Kizzar got th e jum p on everyone at the start of th e second moto and led the en tire race. Lough was third out of the ga te but quickl y slipped around runner-up Padgett. Lough stayed in second until the halfway po int wh en he hi t his neck on the handlebars in a hairpin tum. After a checkup by tra ck EMTs, Lo ugh remounted and finished the race at redu ced speed. Kizzar took th e win over Libbey, Shuler a n d Padgett. Yamaha rider Kirk J ohnson go t the holeshot in the first 250cc A moto bu t quickl y yielded to a hot Kizzar and Lough, who was hounding Kizzar. Lough covered Kizzar like a blanket throughout th e moto, and o n th e penultimate lap Lough took th e lead. But in th e fina l turn both riders coll ided and went down. Kizzar recovered first to tak e the win while Lough remo unted second. Padgett fin ished third ahead of Sh u ler. Barr's Competition / Bare Br os .sponsored Ray Boruff grabbed the hol eshot in moto two followed closely by Honda-mounted Kevin Bowles, Lough and Kizzar . Due to smart moves over some jumps Kizzar was in the lead before the end of the first lap and to wing Lough, Bowles, Shuler and Boruff. The pack split into two groups wit h Kizzar and Lough at th e front and a Shuler/ Boruff/Marty Dyke battle separated by Bowles all by himself. By the last lap thi ngs had pretty much sorted o u t, wit h the only dou bt being who would win the drag race to the finish li ne. Lough got a wheel on Kizzar but could n't get all the way pas t and sett led for second . II uz uki-mounted Kenny Kizzar . compiled a near-perfect record in the 125 and 250cc A clas ses as he pu t together three moto wins and .a second to end up the big winner at S round one of Muddy Creek 's MegaSeries. More than 400 riders were greeted with excellent weather and a nearperfect track. T he 14 A class riders, stra ight fro m Da ytona Supercr oss compe titio n the previous day , found th e track mu ch to their liking, and most of them weren 't about to j ust let Kizzar ride off into the sunset. Kizzar's ma in op po sitio n was Tazewell , Virginia's Chad Lough , who moved up this season from th e B classes and switched from Suzuki to Honda. From a fifth pl ace start in the first l25cc A rnoto Lough blasted up to second behind Barr's Competition-sponsored Mike Padgett ha lfway thro ugh the first lap. Lough didn't stay there long as he passed Padgett over a tabletop jump and from then on was uncatchable. Meanwhile Kizzar was recovering from a fall a t the start which left him last.
