II Kawasaki T eam Green rider Tallon Vohland capped off a busy weekend of racing by sweeping the 125, 250 and 500cc Pro classes in the final round of the northern portion of th e GFI Ra cing's California Winter MX Series at Marysville's Riverfront Track. Vohland spent th e previous 18 two nights rounding up wins in three of four Pro races at the Kaw a saki/ Budweiser Indoor MX Ch amp ionships at San Francisco 's Cow Palace. After making th e two-hour hop over to Marysville, Vohland dominated the Pro class action once aga in as he dominated a ll c1afses from the start o f each mot o. Yamaha- mounted Jim Clay p u t in a strong sho wing in the 250cc Pro class, as he took hol esh ots and led Vohland for a lap. But in each rnoto Voh lan d was in tbe lead befo re the end of lap two and - motored a way to th e win. Cla y was the ru n ner -u p in eac h mot o. Honda-mounted Dave Co u pe and Yamaha rider J ed Green ba ttled for third-place honor s in both motos and provided th e fan s with an exc iting sh ow. T h ird place was fin ally secured by Green in each ou ting wh ile Coupe sett le for a pair o f fourths. Brett Cahors ro u nded o u t th e top five overa ll with a 5-6 score. Vohland a lso swept bo th mot os in the 125cc Pro class and th e o rder behind was the sa me in both motos. Green was seco nd over J ack Azevedo, Sven Stillmock and Robbie Baker, · wh o DNF moto two. . In the 500cc Pro class Voh land topped Mit ch Gall agher in both motos. In th e Vet Pro class , Eric McKenna and David Wood battled in both moto s for first overa ll. The first mot o saw McKenna get o ff to a gr eat sta rt, grabbi ng th e hol esh ot and maintaining his lead th roughout. In mo to two , Woods passed McKenna for th e lead on .Iap two, with McKenna regaining th e positi on on lap five to again tak e the mot o win. Ed Marchini fini shed third in both mot os, Mik e Newman cap tu red fourth overall wi th a 5-4 score a nd Ri ck Woodson ro u nded o u t th e top five with a 4-6 ta lly . T he 80cc Beginner class saw Todd Koehn e a nd Brian Rocks battle it ou t bo th on the track and in their fight for the overa ll series poin ts lead.
