EBC Brakes has announced that they will again sponsor the AMA/ CCS Endurance Challenge road race series in 1990. The agreement was reached between AMA/CCS rep Patrick Murphy and Andy Freeman last week and, according to EBC, will guarantee a significant point fund for riders in the series as well as free product to the leading teams. EBC Brakes also announced that for the second year they will work together with Team Yoshimura to develop disc brake pad com pounds for road racing, and have also signed an agreement w ith Rob Muzzy for his Kawasaki team to use EBC brake pads in the 1990 season. ' Mechanics with pit boards are in danger of being banned from giving th eir riders signals on supercross tracks. According to Roy Jansen, AMA professional motocross manager, there have been problems in th e signalli ng area with me chanics stepping out o nto the track and, in one instance, a mechanic throwing rocks at his rider. An announcement was made two days prior to the January 27 opening ro und at Anaheim, that mechanics would n't be allowed to give signals fro m the trac k. If passed, this law known as S.ll and HR.780, would outlaw riding your dirtbike or ATV anywhere in over 9 million acres. That's an area the size of Connecticut and Maryland put together! Road racer Wayne Gardner had his first-ever outing in a sprint car recently at Sydney, Australia's Parramatta Speedway.
