Gregory Berg (241 leads the start of the Vet Pro class at Perris MX. John McCaughey (1 VI ended up taking the overall class victory. Fisher. The crowd went wild as Fay a nd Fis her co nt inued their ba ttle ri gh t to the end, never more tha n a bike len gth apart. Meanwhile, Kell was coming o n like gangbusters. By lap four he was ri!;ht behi nd Fisher. Bass hung o nto Kell whil e Troy Rose and Mu n yon bat tled it out for six th . At th e fin ish it was Zir bel, Fa y Fisher, Kell , Bass, Ro se, Munyo n a nd Lowe. In the 250cc Semi Pro heat race, Fisher got the ini tia l lead foll owed by Fay, Bru ce Scott, Del Sch nitzer an d Don Pau l. Fay squeezed by ' Fisher to win. The other pos itions remained the same. . In the main even t, Fay and Sch nitz er were side- by-side but Fay finall y too k control as Scott ca me u p to p ush Sch nitzer. O n lap four Scott passed Sch n itzer. With two laps to go Fish er was push in g ha rd bu t he lost th e front end in turn o ne and was ' unable to restart . Barry Higgins, o ne o f severa l riders taking adva ntage of the new forma t, too k the overall win in lhe first race, rid ing in the Super Senior class. Hi ggin s stared th e race severa l min u tes behind, but on th e second lap had ma naged LO pass every ri der ahead of him. H onda ~ mounted Brad Nelso n managed to ward o ff third- p lace finis her G lenn Brock to take second. David Turne r ro de an impressive race after an ear ly mishap dropped him to fifth , but by the seco nd la p he was in third.
