Gary Paul aced the Amateur Expert classes for the second straight week bV sweeping all four 125 and 250cc A class motos. Ross Pederson (56) won the second 250cc Pro moto when he passed Ron Tichenor (6) lat e in the race. Tichenor was the overall w inner. Todd DeHoop (2 5) won the 125cc Pro class and finished fifth in t he 250ccdivision. DeH oop, wh o topped th e 125cc Pro class, said, "T his was a fast track today and I needed a 101 of pow er. I want to thank Bobby Barrs for bu ildi ng a stro ng engi ne for me." De H o op ' s pretty lady , Ro b in Redd er, was at trackside to share in th e champagne celebration. Lauri e Perry 's new ly-open ed Ocal a' Motocro ss Park is different from the regular far e of Florida sand tracks. It features giant hills, a hard clay surface and every co mbina tio n of jump im aginable. The tra ck is lon g and there are numerous good op port u n ities to pass. Racing was . th e closest of th e series. Althou gh th e trac k is fast, th ere were relatively few acciden ts and a m bu la nce per sonel reported no transported injuries over the two days of compe tition. ( The first 125cc Pro rnoto exploded off the ga te with Chris Coleman, Chad Montero , Ro ss Pederson, Mike Brown, Jim Chesser and J erem y Buehl at th e front of the pa ck. On the uphill doubl e Pederson moved into the lead with Brown and Col eman cha lle nging. Brown's T eam Gr een l Ba rr sl Pow erm i s tl Scotti Answ er lBel l/Dunlop Kawasaki passed Pederson and he owned the track until lap seven. " I cased a double and Colem an got by me to win," exp lai ned Brown. Col eman ex plai ned his ca u tio us start, sayi ng, ' " I didn 't get much practice and didn't kn ow the track that well. I decided to let Pederson and Brown lead and watch th eir lines until I learned it better." Pederson said, " I led until I got a rear flat , th en I th ou ght the race wo uld never end." Del-loop, who rod e back from 15th on the first lap 10 take third at the chec kered flag, exp lai ned, " I had a flat 100. I expec ted th e bike to whiplash , but it kept tracking along prett y well. " In rnoto two Pederson pa ced the field with Bar ry Cars ten, DeHoop, Buehl , Brown and Coleman on the gas. DeH oop moved into the lead on lap two, but Buehl wanted th e win. Buehl said, " I foll owed Todd for a lon g tim e, but he wouldn 't make a mi stake. H e fin ally got a little crossed up on the I lth la p and I got by him and held th e lead. It wasn 't Colem an' s day. Arter a good start, he suffered a flat front tir e, pined for a cha nge and ended 26th . Carsten , wit h a fourt h overall , pas sed Coleman in the series point race. He said after th e moto, " I was trying to pass Pederson and messed up. Brown slipped by and clipped
