Jeff Ward spent so much time
preparing for the 500cc Nationals
that he's put off decorating his new
home. It paid off though. since
Ward dominated the series and
became the first to win all four MX .
National Championships.

in last August, before the house was
co m p leted, J eff Ward 's new ho use
has yet to becom e a hom e. Except
for th e bed , television and stereo, it' s
em p ty because Ward had devoted all
hi s tim e to earni ng th at sixth number
one p late for th e 500cc National
Championship.
It 's the tit le he's been chasing since
1986, and it made him the fir st rider
to score a grand slam by winning
all four AMA motocro ss titl es. In
1985 Ward added th e 250cc National
and Supercross titl es to the 125cc
Na tio na l Ch ampio nship he ea rned
in 1984. H e also earned the 250cc
Na tional titl e again in 1988, and won
the Supercross Cham pi o nship again
