An AMA Pro Twins or Limited Expert licen se holder will be eligible to compete in either Pro Twins class, but Expert license holders will be restricted to th e GPI class. (In the case of an FIM-sanctioned event International riders would be sim: ilarly barred from GP2.) . The fir st departure from th e original proposal co ncern s th e method o f obtaining maximum displacement in th e GP2 class. Un like current Modified Production rules which sta te th at onl y the bore can be increased, in 1990 both the bore an d stroke ca n be a lte red. Next, a minimum weight limit of 350 pounds (u p from th e 310 lb . limit origi nally proposed ) will be en forced in th e GP2 class. The bike will be weighed " as is" a fter th e final even t: no fluids may be added (exce p t w ater to th e coolin g system ) a nd th e fuel tank will be dra in ed prior to weighing. U nde r th e new pl an, both classes will run in th e same ra ce, with th e GPI class sta rt ing in th e first w ave a nd th e GP2 class in the second. As is cu rre nt practice, GPI machines will have white number plates with black number s while GP2 machines will hav e yellow with black. Some events (suc h as Daytona) may choose to run sep ara te races for each class. One a rea th at departs significan tly from the origina lly proposed rules is that of th e cla im ing rules for the GP2 class on ly. It was originally proposed th at th e motor could be claimed for $3500 , but that figure has been in creased to $5000 (i nclu di ng th e en gme, ca rbureto r(s), ignition and ex haust system), with a co m p lete ~otor~~cl e claiming price (incl u d mg fairin g ) o f $10,000. · . .
