Damon Bradshaw survived Hurricane Hugo and brought some of the force of.t he storm to Binghamton as he won the 125cc class . Jeff Stanton (7 ) took the lead in the second 500cc moto when Lechien's (4) rear hub broke. Stanton won the moto for the overall victory. Brad shaw battled in th e first moto with title ri val Mik e Kiedrowski until the two tangled at th e end of lap one and Kiedrowski went down. Kiedrowski's Honda teammate Guy Coo per sent Bradshaw over a berm lat e in th e race to take the win. The cras h cost Kiedrowski as his 6-5 moto scores dropped him 27 points behind Bradshaw with only three rounds rem aining in th e 125cc series. There was an I I-po int gap betw een the two prior to the event. " T hat takes a bit of pressure off," Bradshaw said, " bu t I still look at it as though I'm behind in points. I want to win by as many points as I can." Team Honda's Stanton a lso helped his quest to win three championships in a season. But while Stanton rode to 3-1 fini shes and a $1500 payday, Ward struggled to 5-4 fin ishes and saw hi s point lead diminish to six over Stanton . Lechien DNF moto two with a broken rear hub. 125cc The first moto began with the top two titl e contenders at th e front as Kiedrowski pulled th e hol eshot and led Bradshaw for the first lap. Nearing the end of the first circuit, howt:ver, Bradshaw came around the outside of Kiedrowski at the widest point of the track, th e mechanics signalling area. Bradshaw swooped over to the inside, th e two tangled and Kiedrowski went down. Severa l of the mechanics who saw the move claimed Bradshaw intentionally moved over on Kiedrowski, and the Honda rider obviously wasn 't pleased.
