In mot o o ne, Pro Circuit's Buddy Morgan rocketed into th e lead co m in g out of th e ga le to head a large class o f 125cc Novi ces. U pro n was breathing heav ily down Mor gan's back with Ta mi Rice a n d Roger Hauptma n a co u p le o f bik e len gths back. As the riders so rted the mse lves o ut, Rand y Betten . who had suffered a back-of-th e-pad : sta rt, was wo rki ng hi s wa y up through traffic, goi ng by SC R pilot Karl Fern a ndez, J eff Morr is, Rice and J eff Young by lap th ree. Mo rris held h is own against Upton for th e first five la ps, while Mo rgan sliced h is way by Rod j ohnson a nd Fern andez to slip into fo ur th behind J etto n. Up front, Moms slipped up givi ng Upton the cha nce he was waitin g for and took the lead without hesitat ion.
