The Su per' Mini class saw th e hotshots o f th e 85cc class go up against eac h o the r. Without much di scu ssion, it was . a h ands-d own vic to ry for Craig Decker. He led from sta rt 'to fin ish on bo th da ys, j us t dominatin g th e co mpeti tion. T he on ly real bat tle in this race was again betw een Sta ufen beil a nd Cox. These two showed a lo t o f p rom ise a nd rea lly were qu ite fast. Cox went 2-2 whi le Sta uf en bei l took third overa ll with a 3-3. T ilton took fo u rth , whil e Herron came in for a fifth. The 125cc cl ass saw so me o f th e hottest di spla y o f co mpetitio n of th e weekend. Names lik e Derek Natvig, R ya n Hu gh es, J er em y McGrath , NMA Mini cycl e National Champion Tommy ' Cl ow er s a n d Trey McCarty showed up a nd displayed exc iting racing. It was exci ting racing in th e 125 Stock Intermediate class. In th e first mota it was Shawn Morga taking an early lead. Morga led all five laps by holding off Natvig and Clower s to take th e chec kered flag. Clowers a nd Natvig had a m agnificent battle going before Natvig was able to ca tch and pass Clowers to tak e second. These three riders had pulled quite a lead and it was all that Ken Gray and Chuck Kinne co u ld do to keep fourth and fifth. On Sunday it was Kinne grabbing th e lead with Natvig and Clowers br eathin g down h is neck . Kinne led for two laps until he co u ld no longer hold off Natvig a nd Clowers, as th ey were able to get by him. Morga, who had a terrible sta rt, came up from last to fourth by lap three. Clowers wa s really pushing Natvig hard. It looked as though Clowers might pass Natvig b u t he went down in o ne of th e last corners before th e finish to giv e Natvig the moto win. C lowers picked h imself up and sti ll managed to tak e the seco nd spot. With 3-1 finishes in his motos Natvig took th e win over Clowers. Kin ne was able to hol d off Shawn Mo rga for third in the rnoto, but Morga 's 1-4 motos gav e him th e third ov erall a n d Kinn e fourth. Trey McCarty took home th e fifth. Kinne ca me back ·in th e 125cc Modified Intermediat e cl ass with a I-I tally to ta ke the ·overa ll. T rey McCarty went 2-2 for a seco nd . In th e 125cc Stoc k Ex pert class it was Hughes a n d McGart h showi ng o ff their hi gh flyin g aerial tact ics. An other Expert ri der T odd Mit ch ell wa s n o m at ch for Hu gh es a n d McG rath , as th ey flew arou nd th e co urse. At th e fini sh it was Hughes with a 1-1 overa ll victory. The I25cc O pen class had Hughes up aga ins t Natv ig, Cl ower s a n d McCarty. As th e ga te d ropped, it was Hughes followed by Clow ers shooting o u t into the lead. Natvig a n d McCarty fell in behind th em . Everything held steady for a ll five laps with Hughes building a stea dy lead. Clow er s was hanging tight to seco nd. At the finish it was H ug hes, Clowers , Na tvig a nd McCarty. . On Sunday, Hughes repeated Ill S performance 10 take ,a I-I overa ll viclory. Clow ers h ad problems early in th e race which allowed Natvig 10 tak e second o vera ll. After dropping back 10 fourth Clow ers ca me back to pass McCarty a nd take third. Once ab '3in it was Hughes a nd McGrath showcasing their aer ia l maneuvers in Ihe 250cc Expert cla ss.
