Badger Racing was on e of the few Kawasak i ZX7s all year in th e WERA series to be in contention for Kawasaki conti ngencies. T he t~am spent a good deal of th e race III the to p 10 before some thi ng in th e mot or wen t sour with a little over an hou r left in the race. For Badger, it was a repeat o f th e d isappointment suffered here last year when th ey blew up early in th e race. In the Mediumweight P roduction class it was again a race between We 're Human Too a n d Ro ya le Racing II. We're Human T oo kep t their unbeat en record in tac t by fi n is h ing a h ead of second -place Royal e II by three la ps. J im Sti ll a nd Bruce Bal d us steadily climbed in the overall ranki ngs also, a nd by the end of the race had the We're Human Too Suzuki GSX600 Ka ta na into seventh overall. RKN R a cin g domi nated the Ligh tw eight class from stan to finis h. T h e team ' s FZ R400 ra n flawlessly a nd they won th eir class by five la ps. In th e fin al ho ur , Ro yale Racing o u t-g u nned E&H Ra ci n g wi t h lon ger rid in g stin ts and too k over th ird p lace. After a slow start , Team Ameri ca reached th e top five and stayed there all day. After running as high as fo u rt h, th e FZR600 mounted team fini sh ed a solid fifth overall a nd second in clas s. As th e race wou nd do wn , th e Humans co nti n ued to gain gro und o n lead i n g T eam Suzuki (Ha ll tu rn ing a race-b est la p tim e of 1:10.96) b u t th e fiv e-l ap def ici t proved to be too mu ch to mak e u p. Suzuki sailed o n to victory for the seventh time, co mp leting 257 laps at an average speed of 77.1 m ph. T BA Racing worked back up into sixth overa ll by th e end of the race after droppi ng all th e way back to 26th after th eir cras h. We're H uman Too, Caz Racing, T eam Gateway and Roya le Racing II rounded o u t th e top 10 after six hours. The Human Race T eam sti ll hol ds a narrow lead in th e series point sta nd i ngs, but w it h th e W ER A scoring system o nly the nine best races count.
