Tyson Voh land (11) leads the start of the 250cc Pro class. Voh land went 1-2 to secure the overall v ictory over Lowell Thomson (beh ind Vohland ). Dean Matson (40) shuts the door on Vohland (11) in the 250cc Expert class. Tyson's brother. Tallon. topped the 125cc Pro class. By la p five Young had created a su bsta nt ia l lead o ver Crumb wh o had moved into seco n d. At this point Voh la nd slipped by Neal a n d was n ow th ird after jumping past him o n th e downhill tabletop. The top five ride rs were now Young, Crumb, Voh land, Neal a nd Pascarell a. Meanwhile, Young held a so lid lead, wh il e Vohland moved into secon d p la ce after- jumpin ~ past Crumb. Vohland co n tin ued hIS pace and inc hed h is way closer to Young. By la p eig h t th ere was on ly a twoand- a -half -second g ap between Young a nd Vohl and, with Vohland sti ll c ha rg i ng. On th e la st lap Vohland mad e hi s m ove. H e tri ed to ge t by on a lillie jump past a stra ig h t a nd got a wh eel under Young, but Young h eld h is grou nd. Vohland tr ied o ne last time with a stu ff into th e side o f Young but, o nce again, Young held h is gr ound and went o n 10 ta ke th e win ove r Vohland, with third going to Nea l. Wh en th e ga te fell for the seco nd rnoto , once aga in, it was Young n ailing the hol esh ot. Young 's lead was short -lived, h owever, as Voh la nd was righ t o n hi s trail a nd slipped at the en d of the first la p. Once in th e lead Vo h la nd co nti n ue d to in crea se it until th e en d o f th e mo to. Vohland a nd Young pulled aw ay from the rest o f th e pack a n d fel t n o pressu re. With o n ly three laps remaining th e o n ly cha nge came wh en Pasca rell a go t by Young to take over th e number -two spot. Voh land took th e win foll owed by P a scarella a n d Young. Wh en th e ga te fell for th e first m oto of th e 250 cc P ro , Suzukimounted Dean Matson was th e fir st one to th e turn and was quickl y follow ed by T yson, T a llon,'Lamso n a nd Thomson. Mat son ' wa s quickl y p assed by bo th Tyson an d Tallon, whil e pursu ing back in founh was Lamson. SEPT. 2-3 Northern California brothers T allon an d T yson Voh lan d are p roving to be q uite a potent pair, as they claimed victories in both 125 and 250cc Pro classes at Prairie City. Tyson n ea ~l y came away wi th th e 500cc class w m, as well. After smokin g ~he fir st .mot o th e, o n ly rider keeping lip with T yson s blistering pace was an eq ua lly fa st Lam son. Lam son ra iled o n h is 360cc YZ agai nst Tyson's KX500 bu t co u ld n't ca tch th e Kaw a sa ki rider in th e end a nd fini shed seco nd. H onda mou n ted J eff Pestana rod e to a thirdp lace fi n ish . The seco nd moto was Lamson's show. Tyson was no wh ere to be seen for th e stan a nd the pack left without hi m . AT K's Greg Zitterkopf took hi s fo ur -stroke to a seco nd overa ll wit h a 4-2 effo n. Pestana used co ns istency in ca p turing th ird with h is 3-4 ride. In l 25cc Pr o action S u zu ki mounted C hr is Young nailed backto-bark hol sh o ts, running away wit h the first moro victory. Ta llo n Vohland gave it hi s best sho t to catch Young but just co u ld n' t ca tch hi m an d had to sett le for seco nd . Chris Neal, aboa rd a Su zuki, too k th e number -three spot. Mot a two saw Young out front for a lap , and th en it was a ll T allon wh o took hi s turn running a nd ra n a way . His 2- 1 sco re beat o u t You ng 's 1-3. who was nipped by another Suzuki rider Mik e Pa scarell a. Pasca rell a took seco nd in ro u nd two. Tyson Vohland took th e lead and never look ed ba ck during- the first 250cc Pro moto. T yson stretche d his lead to a IS-second gap betw een him self and th i rd -p la ce finish er Lamson. Seco n d went to th e on ly rider stayi n g on T yson 's pace, hi s lilli e bro th er T all on. T yson jumped o u t to th e ea rly lead a t th e beginning o f th e seco nd rn oto as we l l. Bu t th i s tim e S u zu k imounted Low ell Thomson go t by for th e lead a nd took it home. Tyson still had the overa ll wh ile La mson fell in th e first turn a nd was dea d la st. H e p icked up hi s bi ke an d p ro ceeded to pick o ff rider after rider u ntil h e got h imself into th e n u mber-th ree spot. Tyson sti ll took home the overall with h is 1-2 ride. Thomson took home seco nd overall with h is 4- 1, whi le third overall went to La mson with a 3-3. The Vet Pro class was, once aga in, dom in a ted by Roc ket Rex Sta ten. H e took th e ove ra ll with ease pos ting a I-I ta lly. Th at bes ted H ondamounted Alle n Berlu ti's 3-2. Third overa ll went to Yam aha-mounted Mik e Newm an a nd hi s 4-4 showin g. Sp ud Walters a nd h is KX co mp letely dominat ed th e SOcc Expen class. Walters led fro m sta n to fin ish a nd cha lked up a I-I tally. Seco n d overa ll went to a nothe r KX rid er Dann y Nel son with h is 3-2 rid e; third went to Su zu ki-mou nted J esse J ames for hi s 2-5 effort. The first m o to of th e 125cc Pro saw Ch ris Young tak e th e hol esh ot a nd q ui ckl y m ove to a sma ll adva nra ge ove r Yam ah a -m ounted Kyle . Lewis, follo wed by Chris Nea l, Ra y Cru m b, and Danny Paldin o: th e downhill tabletop to move into third. By th e founh lap things were rounding out and the two Voh lands were co m fortab le ou t in front follow ed by Lamson, wh o was a few seco nds back an d wa s being trailed by Thomson, Matson and Crumb. The o n ly ot he r change in th e top five ca me wh en Thomson got by Ma tson on the fifth lap. Matson wo uld fall o ne more spot before th e rnoto expired. On th e eig h th lap Matson wa s passed by Pascarella who moved into th e top five spot and that would be th e en d o f the moto. It was T yson with th e win followed by Tallon, Lamson, Thomson and Pascarella. Moto two was another Tyso n holeshot followed by Thomson and Dan Berg. Berg, however, seem ed to be off th e pace and was being hounded by Tallon, who was eager to get by. He trailed Berg for a lap before getting by on th e lon g uph ill. Meanwhi le, up front, Tyson was being pressured by Thomson. At this p oint T all on wa s all a lo ne a n d trying to make time on th e leaders who were moving ahead a t a rapid pace. Entering a turn , T a llon sta lled his mount and lost what little gro u n d he had made and wa s past by both Matson a n d Berg. T allon finall y rem ounted a nd was tryng to retalia te. Lamson wa s o n th e mo ve a nd was clos in g in on th e . leaders a fter sta rting last. Still leadin g T yson went into th e turn just after t he lon g uph ill stra igh t, "T he tra ck was watered o n th e in sid e a nd was reall y slick, I slid before th e jump a nd got a little bit side ways an d th e bars ya n ked wh en I landed a n d it just kind o f pulled my shou lde r a little bit, so I was real so re." A few turris later Tyson went down again a nd Thomson got by, but T yson stayed with h im only n eeding a second for th e overa ll. Meanwhi le, T a llon h ad worked hi s wa y back up to hi s origi na l p osition of third while trying to hold o ff Lamson, who wa s -sh owin g no sig ns o f letting off h is relentless pace. G oing up th e uphi ll Tallon was holding thi rd but Lamson was right o n th e KX rid er's rear end a nd made a jab o n an in sid e move. Lamson wasn 't a ble to get by until two turns la ter wh en Tallon went a litt le wide
