Kawa saki rid er Gary Bren na n push ed hard and passed Wat ers in a shan stra ightaway in the middle o f th e track. H is lead was sho rt-lived th ou gh whe n Wa lers took a harder inside lin e in a ha irpin turn a nd a br u ptly rega in ed th e number o ne spot. Brennan the n fell in a ber m a nd Waters ga med a 50·yar d lead by th e seco nd lap. Brennan had to co nte nd with Yamah a rider Bobby Maddeck in a battle for seco nd place.
