Parker crossed the li ne at the end
of the 14th lap with a seven second
lead, but this time i t was over Carr
and Morehead; not just Morehead,
as the pair began a three la p sideby-side fight they wag ed all aro und
th e ova l.
Carr established himself in second
o n the 17th lap although he was
seven seconds behind his teammate
Parker and just a hea d of Morehead,
who was trai led . by Springsteen,
Atherto n, Mertens, J on es, Poovey,
Eklund, Ingram, Farris, Herndon,
Darli ng, Day and Graham.

lap 18 and Poovey dropped th e

following lap.
Graham, who was bringing up th e
rear of th e field, was shown th e blue
flag on lap 2 \ and by th e time he
came around again he had been
lapped by Par ker.

charge and he got by Atherton to tak e
over fifth , but on th e next lap he
