As Young began to pull a way , Bussey rode lik e a man pos sessed and stuc k to Kline's rear fender like g lue. On lap three Bu ssey made h is move, holding it o n a secon d longer than Kline as th ey a p p roached the fro nt j ump. Bu ssey sailed in to secon d p lace . a nd se t his sights on Young. Just before they reach ed th e ch eck ers, Bussey dove to the in side o f a sli PJX:f1' lef thander and lost hi s front wh eel. This handed Young a n easy mot o victo ry over Kline. Ma tson , and Dominici , Young's perfect score gav e him the o verall , foll owed by Kline in second, a nd Ma tson in th ird. Results PIW: 1. Brandon Morgan (Vaml ; 2. Nick Puccio (Yam); Chris Young (23) gets sideways on his way to a 125cc Pro class victory during Ascot's Friday night MX. Young also topped the 250cc Pro class. With his two most recent wins, Kurt Hall has taken the WERA Formula USA points lead . in the second wave, but by the end of the first lap was up to 14th place. Three laps later Hall shot past the leading trio of Randy Gaddey, Phil Pummell and Marty Mill er. With record lap tim es in the low I:26s, Hall went on to an easy victory. Hall go t hi s normal hol esh ot at th e sta rt of th e F-USA ra ce bu t surp rising ly Mike Smi th led coming out of tum one. Smith was ridi ng a nearly stock GSXRllOO and was definitely at a deficit in the horsep ower department. Smith realized his disadvan tage and was trying to break away with a quick start. It didn't take long for Hall to take over the lead ; a clean pass going into the esses dropped Smith to second. Bray a n d Graves were ri gh t on Smith 's tail but Hall wasn 't waitin g around for them. As the leaders .hit the rising'sweeper in the back section of the track, Hall pulled 20 bikelengths on the others. As he crossed th e start/ fin is h line, he h eld a comma nding two-second lead. Smi th su ccumbed to teammat e Bra y's h orsepow er on th e front straigh t at the end of lap one. Graves, who has perhaps the fastest bike in the series in the form of the Greg Lundy-tuned Suzuki, moved into thi rd on the next lap and was zeroing in on Bray. . Hall turned his record I:25.32 on the second lap and was now prett y mu ch out of reach. Attention focused on the second-p lace ba ttle between Bray and Graves. Bray was just fast enough in the twisty sectio ns of the trac k to hold the horsepo wer-Iadened Suzu ki of Gra ves at bay. T he one place that Graves seemed to have an adva ntage was co mi ng into th e Grattan bowl , a banked, second gear left-hander. Graves had tri ed to snea k under Bray a couple of tim es there and came up just sho rt . . On th e sixt h lap Graves dove under Bray aga in , but thi s tim e when Graves tapped his brakes the front wheel tucked comp letely sideways, and he fought the bike all the way to the edge of the track surface. Nine tim es out o f 10 this type of slide resu lts in a crash. However, with a little skill and a lot of lu ck Graves managed to save it, but not without a cost.' By the time ~ was back up to racing speed Bray was out of reach. Hall breezed to the win and hopes to co n ti n ue his winning strea k. Results . F-USA: 1. Kurt Hall (Yam); 2. Paul Bray (Suz); 3.
