Team Toomer's Jon Roberts and Glenn Barry (Yam) won the GTU division. Kurt Hough (Kaw) was the overa ll a nd "250cc class winner at the TwoDay Trask Mo untain Na tional Reliability Trials in Yamhill, Oregon, June 24-25. Other class winners incl uded Joey Lane (Kaw) in th e 125cc division, a nd Dave Bertram (Suz) in the Open cla ss. Wayne Rainey (Yam ) won th e June 24 Dutch TT at Assen, H olland, scoring his third"World Championship Road Race Series victory of the year. Rainey inherited th e win when leader Kevin Schwantz (Suz) wa s forced to retire from the race when his engine broke on the next to last lap. Defending World Champion Eddie Lawson (H o n ) finished second, nearly seven seconds behind Rainey. Third went to Christian Sarron (Yam), fourth to Kevin Magee (Yam ) and fifth to Pier-Francesco " Chili (Hon), Randy Mamola (Cag) finished II th and fellow American Freddie Spencer (Yam) 13th. Rainey extended his leading points total to 143. Lawson is second with 127, Sarron third with 97, and Magee fourth wi th 83. Reinhold Roth (Hon) scored his first GP win of the year in t he 250cc race at Assen , topp ing runner-up Sito Pons (Hon) and " third place finisher Jacques Cornu (Hon) after a race long battle. Defending 250cc World Champion Pons still holds a commanding lead in the point standings, leading Roth 164 to 103. Cornu is third with 100 points. Rick Johnson (Hon ) returned to racing action at the Mammoth Mountain MX at Mammoth Lakes, California, June 23-25. The multitim e National Champion has been sidelined since br eaking hi s wrist in March. Johnson won all th ree professional cla sses, the 125, 250 and 500cc classes.
