T hat in my agony I still found how to ride, drawing on the past like a video gam e. I was hurtin ' bad. No, no motorcycle accident. It was while under Pedal Pow er that I'd ma naged th is one. I'd been m ountain biki n' all day, ridin ' trails with m y so n, and m y back uient out . Stoop ed to p ick up some keys I'd dropped and POP! Tha t she blew! Like so me vannit bush whacked m e w ith a twoby-four. Couldn 't stan d, or sit, or lie without pain. Bu t could still Dream. T here in front of T V. I had on a ' cable m ov ie - R edford playin g [ erm iah Joh nson, roamin ' the R ock, ies, a man on his own. It was a romance I had years ago as a little boy, before I ever rode any thing with Exhaust. My Dream was that I' d found a door to the past, and went there on a Mo to rcycle. It was that Frontier w here steam trains still dared prairies and horsem en ruled w hatever was beyo nd. In that fan cy m y ho rse was metal. And uihen I cracked th e th rottle it gave a roar that scared the bejeesus ou t of folks . I was so me gos h-a'mig hty W izard of th e W ild West, th e m ost feared critt er this side of a wounded gri:r.. There w eren 't a cam pfire or salo o n I cou ld n' t call my ow n. M y motor and me was a liv in' legend! Sh oot , we'd scoot u p trails not even a m ule could climb. A nd spin donuts for hours in corral dust. And race locomotives clean to th e railh ead, and win! Wh en sun struck my motor, badmen h ighta iled and hid. Wom en swooned over m e. Kids follow ed my tread like I was the dern Pied Pip er. And under a tri llion stars we'd bed [or the n ight - me and m y shi ny stead. Only to ride again in th e p urp le dawn. Mad e no neverm ind where. Anyp lace we went was new. H eck, I' d spend hours off in that dream of m in e. I wo rked so hard on it I knew it'd come true. It just had to! So m ehow I'd reall y ride back in tim e and be that Motor H ero! Meanwh ile, I guesse d, I' d m ake do wit h my bik e - Bicycle, that is. Motorcycles were still th ings of the futu re for m e. But the past , oh boy! I was th e best th ere was. Nobody could touch me! No t even the L on e Ranger! M y mount m ade Silver obsolete.
