Team Suzuki motocrossers Johnny O 'Mara and Jimmy Gaddis were " swapping injury stories on the flight back from the ML Morris National and O'Mara, who has suffered from knee injuries for several seasons, demonstrated just how bad his right knee is. Atherton is sporting what one competitor referred to as a "jungle gym." The metal halo device which is attached to his head and keeps his neck in a fixed position is a "pain in the neck" to Atherton. "I wake up every morning with a sore neck," said the Michigan racer, who has visibly lost weight during his recuperation period. "I weighed 138 to 140 before the accident and even with this on my head and shoulders I only weigh 132."
