Honda's Guy Cooper ~nd Larry Ward filled out th~, top bve. " There are two more races to go, Stanton, who's won four supercrosses this year, told the crowd of 32,253 at Giants Stadium after the race. "And that's all that matters." Stanton leads Cooper in the Camel Supercross Series point standings, 261 to 221, after 13 of 15 rounds. Kawasaki's Ron Lechien, 13th tonight after a first-lap crash, is third with 203 points while O'Mara holds fourth with 197. For winning the 20-lap main event on the tortuous Stadium Dirt Designs track, Stanton earned $5000 of the $35,000 purse. Dymond pocketed $3000, O'Mara $1850 and Cooper $1400, plus the $1000 Coors Extra Effort Award as voted by the media. Kawasaki's Jeff Ward, who'd won three of the last four supercrosses, led the middle portion of the race before dropping out with transmisJion troubles. Stanton had led before Ward took over and quickly took the lead back after he dropped out. The 125cc class win went to Yamaha's Damon Bradshaw who beat Honda's Mike Kiedrowski by close to 10 seconds after the IS-lap main event. Kawasaki's Denny Stephenson was six seconds back in third with Barry Carsten fourth and Dale Spangler fifth, both Suzukimounted. With one race to go in the Eastern Regional Supercross Series, Bradshaw leads Kiedrowski, 197 to 191, with Stephenson third at 161. 250cc Heats At the start of the first of three heats, each of which would advance the top five finishers, plus the sixthplace rider in the fastest heat, directly to the main, Suzuki's Erik Kehoe took the lead followed closely by Larry Brooks, O'Mara, Todd DeHoop and John Dowd. The order shuffled on the second lap with Brooks briefly in the lead, but going into the third lap, O'Mara ducked under him and began to pull away. Lechien began making up for his bad start and moved into fourth, then third behind O'Mara and Kehoe at the halfway mark. DeHoop held onto fourth ahead of Brooks and Dowd. Lechien dispatched Kehoe near the end of lap five and was soon on O'Mara's tail, but three turns from the checkered flag he hit O'Mara and fell in a muddy, tight tum. The final order was O'Mara, Lechien, Kehoe, DeHoop and Brooks. "I just dove to the inside at the start," O'Mara said. "I was a little tight at the beginning, then 1 got pretty aggressive. I decided that he (Lechien) wasn't going to get the inside line unless he rammed me. He did, just my rear wheel, and he slipped and fell down. I'm pretty sure I'll be in the winner's circle." Cooper thrilled the crowd by being the first rider to clear the triple jumps after the start-finish line in the second heat. He did it for over half the race before settling down. By then he had over a la-second lead and would win the heat by 17 seconds. "I showed the guys in the third heat that the triples could be done," said Cooper. Behind him, Jeff Ward settled into second on the second lap after a midpack start, and that's where he'd finish. Yamaha's Mike LaRocco and Honda-mounted Fred Andrews had a spiri ted battle for third, decided in LaRocco's favor on the seventh lap. Mike Pascarella was fifth with Mike Fisher sixth. Dymond got the jump on the third heat, leading until the fourth lap when Stanton passed him exiting a
