MXer Mark Barnett had problems keeping the rubber side down. A classes consisted of approximately 50 riders and they were the £irst of II waves that would leave the line at 30 second intervals from a deadengine start. They also had the biggest pile-up in the first turn. "I got caught in that crunch on the first tum," said Hyde. "I looked down and there were three KTMs on the ground. I thought we were having some kind of KTM riders meeting. I got clear, but I was at the back of the field so I began picking off riders. I rode about half the race with Mark Barnett. "He would go blitzing by me and then he would faU down. He's fast but needs a little more woods experienee. Near the end of the fifth lap I caught Rusty Reyanud and Ron Naylor and I just blew right by them. I guess they didn't know I was there because they dropped in behind me and we diced the last lap. I was the first one through the barrels. but Naylor was there at my side." "Definitely need a chest protector for this kind of racing," said former MX National Champion Mark Barnett. "I went too close to a tree and a branch peeled me righ t off the bike. My arm is still sore. I must've fallen down eight times. I don't know how many times I fell on the second lap, I quit counting. I like riding these things and I plan on riding' some more maybe even an ISDE Qualifier." Team Kawasaki's Fredette, riding a KDX200 again won his class and finished in the top 10 overall.
