Trey Sechler (446) leads John Rickel (41) and Trey Owens (75) at the start of the 125cc Novice class. Billy Felts was the winner. the top five, Kawasaki was awarded the trophy and Team G reen 's Jose Gonzales accepted for th e company . According to promoter Jerry Surber, Suzuki went fro m one rider in the top five last year to 17 this year. • Results Texan Dennis Hawthorne claimed both the 125 and 250cc Expert class w ins aboard Kawasakis. He dominated both classes. Jerry A leman took the 50cc class victory on a Yamaha. 18 and Morga in the q ua lifying heat, he had to settl e for fourth overall behind Hodes, Morga a nd Dail y. Young led the opening lap of th e first moto but soon lost the lead to Smith, who held it th e rest of the race. After a poor start, H odes fought hi s way to a second-place finish. The second moto saw Smith and . Hod es trading pl aces in the lead seven times, but in the last turn a lap ped rider kept Hodes fro m th e victory, allowing Smith to swoop pas t h im for the mot o and the overall win.
