(Above) There is no clear-cut wi nner between the Honda CR 125. Yamaha YZ125. Suzuki RM125 and Kawasaki KX125. but we did come up with
one favorite. (Below) The Honda has the most explosive powerband whi le the Suzuki is the most mellow. Both machines have similar ergonomics.
S
in g li n g out a clear-cu t
winner and labeling one
machine as the best 125cc
motocrosser in the following comparison was nearly impossible to do . Getting straight to the
point, each one of the big four
manufacturers (rom Japan produce
quality machines that are capable of
winning in the hands of a given
rider. There just isn 't a sour grape
in the bunch.
And although we could claim one
brand to be the winner, the consumer's winner is often determined by
dealer support and the opportunity
to offset some o( the costs of racing
through the manufacturer's contingency program.
In comparing the 1989 Honda
CRI25, Kawasaki KXI25, Suzuki
RMI25 and Yamaha YZI25 we have
attempted to do just that, compare
each machine, both on the track and
off-track maintenance. We will give
a general overview of what each bike
does in areas suc h as power and
handling, and also give you our
personal preferences.
Power
All (our have enough power to be
competitive against one another, but
each machine has its own personality
that sets it apart (rom the other three.
The Honda is .simply the fastest
of the group (rom mid-range on up.
