Cohn Smith oml Slane tops Burbank Sports Arena ST By Kevin George BURBANK. OH. JAN. 8 Brett Slane topped Kelly Bowlby and Larry Hodges in the Open class at Burbank Sports Arena's short track. Slane used th e outside groove all afternoon and battled side-by-side with Hodges during the early laps. Slane managed to 'break free from Hodges as th e pair sta rted to lap riders, Coming out of tum four Bowlby worked his way through the traffi c and passed H odges shortly befor e th e checkered flag. The closest action cam e in th e 250cc race . where Brian Spotts and Scott Curren battled handlebar-to-handlebar th e en tire race and swapped posi tions every lap.
