Keller and john Collins unstacked last from a first tum ' skirmish and chased the field. Andrews closed on Frisz and tried a daring pass. .Frisz said, "I heard him coming and braced. I th ink he . tried to knock me off; he hi t me in the footpeg and fell. " Andrews responded, " I didn 't try to hit Jeff . It 's a hard tra ck to pass on and we both wanted th e same line." Frisz and Andrews continued to set a pa ce fast enough to lap third place Kessler and the field. In mo to two, Andrews' P ro Circ u i t/ H o m bre/l n t/Answer/Smithsupported H o nda erased a Frisz rabb it start and controlled the moto a nd eventual win. Fri sz explained, " I dove into a corner then learned that I had no rear brake. The lin e was severed by some cha fi n g on t he shock spri ng." Keller' s H onda rolled by Frisz at the midway point to lock up second in th e moto. Keller sai d la ter, "The crowd was rea lly with me today and th at's a bi g adva ntage. I can hear them chee ring and this is what keeps me going." Amateur H onda support riders David Becking ton and Earl May swept the Expert divisions of an intense amateur program . Michigan rider Beckington topped three of four 125cc A and 250cc A motos and May exte nded the only perfect record in the series in the 500cc A class . Beckingto n 's 125cc A dual romp almost ended before it started in the first mota. T h e. Tim Ferry and Tony Haynes finished second and th ird. .. Retired Pro racer, Kenny Keylon returned to action in Plus-25 division one to upset class favorites Robbie Neeley and Rick Li ndell. In the 125cc B division, PR Racing/ Honda East-s ponsored Do ug Iddings upset T im H odes. Hodes said, " It was a bad day for me. I go t pinched out and th en lost my rear bra ke." Adam Sm ith bumped H an k Moree and J eff Lampe to top'the 250cc class. Steve Decker exp lained his upset win over Dean Baker in 500cc B action. " Baker won the first moto.
