Newton H eston a nd Gl enn Barry each took home two wins as well . Von Lignau, a series regular at Mor ose and a very co nsis tent rid er, battled with So u th Florida' Raci ng's Bill Kell y for th e first seven or eigh t laps in the GTO 50-miler. Von Lignau on hi s Suzuki GS X R Il OO dogged Kell y for th e fim fou r laps and Ihen passed for Ihe lead a nd never looked back. Kell y suffered some mechan ical problems th a t left him in the pits for the. res l of the day . Von Lignau was foll owed 10 th e chec kered nag by a distant' Rick Herndon, a nd Daytona Beach rider Pa ul Sc h we m mer. Rob ert Caraway crossed Ihe line right behind Sch wem mer in fourth and Miam i rider John Long was fifth. The GTU race was a lot closer call with David Kamps. Mike Barn es. Greg Esser. Mark Pastir, Mike Lehning 'a nd Gl enn Barry all starting out in the lead group. For th e first rive laps it was very tight - New ton H eston . Barn es and Kamps excha nl(ed th e lea d o n all ends of the tra ck. Pa slir a neIEsser had a baltle of their own going o n just behind th e lead group. On lap 12 Kamps, wh o had fall en back behind Barry , crashed co m inll o ut of lurn nine whe n another rid er went · Wide leav in g him no pla ce to go but in th e grass. Heston was all alone o UI in front for the next five laps, as Barry a nd Barnes tra ded painl. Barnes is lear less in his riding style and Barry is a crafty veteran. With three laps 10 go Barry had moved around Barnes a nd held seco nd pl ace 10 the checkered nag. Esser was fourth with Mark Pastir taking lifth.
