Quite a few riders recorded a zero po in t loss u p to lhe th ird chec k, th en th in gs started to tig h ten u p . At chec k five Wayne Keezer had hi s 130 Husky in th e lead with a perfect sco re, N ielsen had dropped one while Mik e Sch m idt and J ohn Moody had dropped three.
