The pipe event uall y burned through the ig ni tion wire, strandi ng T homas a mere eight miles from the checkered flag. Stearns was ela ted with h is second pl ace finish and co uld be ' heard praising th e co urse again a nd again. Morri s slip ped into the th ird p lace slot wh ile Gorgone came in fourth. Arn et was fifth overall in addition to taking the l25cc class win. Nevesti ch held o n for a first in th e Open class a nd six th 'overall. "The course was great," he said. " I sure didn 't think it was me o n that bike!" Seventh to pass the chec kered flag was Ma tt Alexander, o n a Yam aha.
