First Lowman had the lead then Murray took it back, then Lowman came back. O n the last lap , Murra y dr afted Lowman headi ng lor the star t/finis h line a nd pas sed Lowma n at the line lor the win . When as ked il he had any tro ub le, Murr ay rep lied, "T he clutch was slipping a nd [ wa s tryin g to nurse it in th e beginning . a nd when I was ab le to gel past John I decided not lO worry abo ut it anymore an d just go for it. Right behind h im in third was David Clyde aboard his Honda CBR6oo. T he Hea vywe ight Superbike race was al so won by Roos, a boa rd his Yam a ha FZR4oo. When asked what it was li ke running a 400 mach in e in th e H eav yweight class, Roos rep lied , " I had to rid e rea l har d. I knew tha t in o rder to win th is race I had to ge t a good start a nd ge t the lead early in the race if possible," . Going onto the ba nking Roos passed Greg H arrison for seco n d place a n d th en went after Bruce Neild. Downs pull ed 011 a th ird p lace finish.
