Mert Lawwill , yet a nother former Grand Natio na l Champion, and Sammy Tan ner, Ralph White a nd Jimmy Odo m took their turns at th e m ike. Fran cis Clifford, a lway s a crowd pl easer , dumped h is bike a n d got bi gger cheers th an ever wh en he got u p , got it goi ng again a n d did his laps, as fast as ever. O f course, th e lo u dest n o ise was saved for Dick Mann h i m self , sh o w in g h is ra ce form o n a BSA. Someone asked Gary Nixon if h e wanted to tak e a lap . " I did tha t a co u p le o f yea rs ago. It scared me. I didn 't remember how fast we used to go." Th e sp iri t of th e even t was best sl!mmed up by Dinosaur Racing , a vintage m otocross race team .
