Mot o tw o found Abel th e ea rl y lea der as he was pu rsu ed by Roe a nd Bia s. By lap three, Roe a nd Bia s h ad moved by Abel a nd Roe rem ained in fir st until Bias applie d pressure. Roe a lmost lost it over a set o f jump s but saved it as he ran o ff th e course, a llo win g Bias to mo ve into the lead. Roe dro p ped 10 fourth as Bia s landed th e w in foll ow ed by Abel a nd Dav id Weis. The final mot a of the even in g sa w Bias qu ick of f th e sta rt with Abel and ROe in pursu it. Bias eventua lly took ove r ' seco nd wi th Abel finish ing thi rd. Round two agai n found Roe in command from sta rt to finish despite hard cha rges by Bias. The crash left Cook unconscious and badl y cu t a nd bruised o n th e fa ce. H e was tak en 10 th e h ospital for sti tches, a nd h e retu rned lat er to wat ch . Brown shot to th e lead a nd left Cope a n d Buchli behind by th e chec kers . 'Bro wn led Cope a nd Bu chli ou t o f th e gate in rnot o two a nd never looked back . H e qu ickly built a so lid cushion over Cope a n d won moto two , wh ile Buchl i, agai n , fin ished third. It was also the po sitions that they finished th e seaso n in . Atk ins spent th e second h alf o f th e moto in a wild di ce with Scott Fu lcher and J erem y Mid daugh. Middaugh led most o f m oto tw o , while Bu chti g rad ua lly closed th e gap. Then Midda ugh lo w-sided in a dry , slick co mer tryi ng to cu t u nder a la pped rid er. Buchli went by for th e lead a nd win. Middaugh qu ickl y remounted in seco n d a n d stayed six seco nds . behind Buchli to th e finish , ea rni ng th ird overall. Campbell ca me in th ird for seco nd overall. Ne we ll also won the O pen Pro class title and was o n hi s wa y to th e overa ll aft er winnin g mo ta o ne . But tha t went a way wh en he ra n ou t o f gas in mot a two, g iving the victory to Bob H anrahan. Atkins won th e SOcc Expert class a nd took hi s th ird co nsec u tive cha mpio nshi p in th at class. During th e first la p in th e main, Bertagnol i 's Yama h a FZR400 grabbed th e h ol esh o t, while Bu rch a m , aboard hi s Yamaha FZR4oo, was close behi n d in Bert agnol i 's dra ft. By th e e n d of t he, seco n d lap, Berta gn oli a nd Burch am h ad pulled away from th e rest o f the pack a n d set th e pace for th e remainder , of the race . Burch am and Bertagn oli swa pped p laces several ti mes d u ring th e seco n d la p. Bertagnoli then managed 10 hold o ff Bu rcham for the n ext two la ps. The riders were n o t o nly ba ttling eac h o ther for th e title, but also a slic k track. L ight ra in dampened the pave me n t for several h o urs. T he ra in didn 't seem to dampen Bur ch a m 's de term inati on. Burch am slip ped by Bertagnoli b y taking the insi de lin e o n a sharp righthander , du ring th e fo urth lap. Bertagnoli co u ldn' t ma n age to sq ueeze a ny more powe r o u t of hi s FZR 400 10 take bac k the lead. Despite the fact tha t Berta gno li was o n ly a bike len g th beh in d, Bu rcham held him off a n d took th e checkered n ag for a first p lace win. In th e 750cc Superb ike Expert class, To m Kip p jumped o ut to a n ea rly lead a board h is Yamaha FZR7 50. Kevin Rentzell , aboard h is Ya ma ha FZR 400, stayed right wit h Kil?P a nd j ust a few bike len gths a head o f Ron Widmen , o n hi s Suzuki GS X R750.
