"The co ncer n wa s th at some Kawasakis a nd some other riders were cu tting th e co u rse," sa id J err y Stansburry, th e racing director for MTEG. " T hey weren't cutting it eno ugh to penalize th em, but we decided we'd put up ·penants and banners to forc e everybody to ride' a certain way. " . After the ma in Stansburry told H olley that he wou ldn't be a llowed to co mpete with them in 1989. " Holley was the ins tigator of the boycott - point blank," said Stansb urry. "We just don't put up with that, period. We are here to race a nd if they want to race that's fine. If they don' t want to race, they can load up. T hey were given that option. • " I' m not out," said Holley. " I think that he (Sta nsburry) wasa little upset that 1 organized the thing, and we wanted banners. 1 think he is still a little upset right now. 1 have ironed things out with Bill Marcel, who is the President (of MTEG ) and he said don 't worry about it. " Once underway with th e main T erry Fowler ca me from the fourth row to lead Kerry Mulligan, Frankie Bru n da g e, Tallon Vohland and Stephenson acros s th e line on lap one. Fowl er led the first three laps until Stephenson powered his way into first. Fowler dropped to second with Tallon moving past Mulligan and Brundage for third. Shortly after taking command of third, Tallon went down. Tyson moved up into the final top three posi tion .with Holley and Tyler clos e behind. Tyson also crashed after moving into third, giving Holley the position ahead of Tyler. Up front the Team Green Kawasaki/Malcolm Smith/Bell Helmets/ DMC/Scott Coggte/Pj l-sponsored Stephenson had opened up a five second lead. Fowl er dropped ba ck with four laps to go which moved Holley into the runner-up position. . The last few laps saw Tallon shoot through the pa ck a nd ca tch Holley. . As Stephenson took the w in , Tallon tried to tak e over Holley's position. Holley managed to hold o££ Tallon for second, seven seconds behind Stephenson. Tyson took fourth foll owed b y Fowler and McGrath. However for Holley, things didn 't work out so good. On Monda y, following the event, MTEG disq ualified him from the.final round a nd placed him o n proba tion for 1989. Holley's disqualifi cation gave Tallon seco nd with Tyson, Fowler and McG ra th rounding ou t the top five.• . CONGRATULATIONS TO TSUBAKI CHAIN WINNERS L.A. Sleeve Co., Power Prod.
