All night lo ng, Marty Zirbel took the Lou Kin n ish Tri umph to the limit whi le bauling with Centralia's Mike Sul liva n-also Triumph moun ted. In the 750cc Twin class Su lliva n wo n by a wheel and Zirbel repa id the favor in the Junior/Expert class main. In th e 750 mai n. Sullivan got the scratch fo llo wed by Zirce l, Tony Thorn and Buck Murph y. Zirbel passed Sullivan go in g into tu rn tw o b ut Sullivan slid under Zirbel coming: o u t of fo u r. Georgi e Price had a very easy li me wi nning the 250 a n d 600cc Expert classes with relative ease. 'Th e clo sest win came in th e 250cc class wh ere Mike Varnes look th e lead fro m Pr ice, J on Simpso n and Kenny Mohler. The small cla ss helped P rice since he had electrical problems earlier a nd didn't even ma ke th e grid un"til a f ter th e h eat was completed. H e look th e lead co m ing o ff th e seco n d turn on the seco nd lap a nd ran the edge o f th e groove o n h is C & S Cycle-: spon sored Kawasaki. At the midwa y point, Varnes started to close th e ga p running a tight, lo w li ne. On-the last la p , Price moved down to Varn es' lin e a n d kept him a t a five length margin.
