Ty D avis (1 ) pi loted his Suzuki RM125 to the 12 5 cc Pro class win via a 1-1 t ally. Damon Bradshaw (68) finished second with a 2-2. " Yamaha -mounted Cra ig Davis (811) went 2 -1 to claim the 5 00cc Pro class win over Richard Mythen and M ike Hooker. He just tried to take me out so bad, " Davis may have been the only rider upset with the way his second mota was raced, but he happily shared the winner's circle with Buddy Antunez and Micky Dymond after all three overcame less than perfect first -mota scores to win overall in their respective classes , Antunez captured the 80cc Expert class win after falling in moto one and finishing th ird to Kawasaki 's Tommy Clowers and Joel Albrecht. Antunez ret urned in the second moto to chase Albrecht for a lap and then quickly took away the lead and headed towards the checkers, Team Yamaha's Dymond suffered from a poor start in the first 250cc Pro class moto, but was able to work his way into second behind Ty Davis at the finish. Dymond's start in round two was much better and the Yamaha Motor Corp.!Answer/Troy Lee/ Arai/Scott-sponsored rider led all but the first lap for the win. Suzu ki's Davis won the 125cc Pro class, which most people considered to be the "toughest class of the day. The 500cc Pro class provided some of the best two-man racing seen in the series yet. In first-moto action Jeff Mabery led Craig Davis" Richard - Mythefol' Pete Murray, Bnan Eld er and MIke Hooker, Throughout the entire moto Mabery and Davis were never more than than a second apart with Mabery consistently enjoying the upper hand. Davis edged up next to his fellow Yamaha rider several times, but could never find the drive required to pass Mabery, Mabery managed to hold off Davis during the 15-m in u te mota for the win. , Murray worked his way by Mythen for third with Hooker taking fifth. Joey Schlag led Davis, Chris Radzinski, Mabery and Scott Brown at the start of mota two, Schlag held the lead for the firs t three laps before falling out of the top 10. With Mythen out of the way Davis took to the point followed closel y by Mabery and Brown. Radzinski and Hooker rounded out the top five. Near the the midway point Mabery injured his right foo t and drastically slowed down, handing Brown second a few bike lengths behind Davis. The next five laps saw the wildest racing of the day as Brown was trying everything he could to put his ATK around Davis. With three laps remaining Brown found an opening and took command of the lead. Davis tried to repass him but was forced to back off as Brown brake tested him several times. On lap two Davis used a lapper to h is adva nt age a nd dov e undernea th Brown to regain the lead. Once into th e lead Davis put some space between himself and Brown and it quickly grew when Brown pu lled o u t with mechanica l problems. . Davis cruised the last two laps to cap ture the win and the overall ahead of Mythen and Hooker. In th e first 125cc Pro mota Kyle Lewis holeshot Ty Davis, Damo n Bradshaw, Randy Moody and Kerry ' Mulligan. The top five stayed identical for the first four laps until Davis managed to put his Suzuki into the lead. Davis-soon opened up a smalllead as Bradshaw struggled to get around Lewis. Near the halfway point in the 12-lap race Bradshaw dropped Lewis to third, as Chris Young and Ryan Hughes closed in on Mulligan in fifth . Davis quickly expanded his lead to five seconds; with Lewis falling more than double that behind Bradshaw. Mulligan later dropped out of th e picture on lap seven as Hughes and Mike LaRocco came charging by for fifth and sixth. American SuzukilBel-Ray/ RenthaIlDunlop/ T errycable/ ArailMa1colm Smith sponsored Davis went on to take the win over Bradshaw, Lewis, Moody, Hughes and La Rocco. Second mota action saw Jeff Pestna get the early drop on the gate to lead A.J . Whiting, Jeremy McGrath, Lewis and Davis on lap one. Pestana's stay among the top five was short as he dropped back to sixth on lap two. Up front Whiting and . McGrath were really going at it while Lewis and Davis closed in. The race soon turned into a four-way battle for the lead with Whiting consistently staying ahead. Bradshaw, who gated ninth , was quickly working his way toward the fro nt and held down fifth. Whiting 's lu c k soon changed when he dropped to third after Lewis and Davis powered on ahead. Shortly after th e halfway point. Bradshaw put his Yamaha into third ahead of a battle between Whiting and McGrath. T he last few laps saw Bradshaw reel in the leaders and become a factor as he feverishly worked for the lead, but it was too late. ' Davis ' took th e win a short distance ahead of Bradshaw. Lewis was third with McGrath fourth and LaRocco fifth, A perfect I-I earned Davis the overall over Bradshaw's 2-2 score, while Lewis picked up third with 3- , 3. La Rocco's consistent 6-5 bumped him to fourth over Hughes' 5-7. Dymond definitely earned his win in the 250cc Pro class, The factory Yamaha rider gated well out of the top lOin the first mota as Chad Pederson holeshot Davis, Larry Brooks, Hughes, Steve Lamson and LaRocco. Lamson led the first half of the race while Dymond worked his way up. Dymond was riding smooth and by la p six had taken over fifth behind Pederson, Davis', Whiting and Mike Pascarella . On lap seve n Davis inherited th e lead when Pederson crashed hard. Once out front, Davis managed to gain a small lead while Pascarell a forced his way to second. Pascarella's stay there lasted o nly two laps before he pulled to the side of the track with mechanical prob lems. With Pascarella out of the way, Dymond jumped past Brooks for the runner-up position, and although Dymond set a blistering pace the last few laps, he eventually ran out of time. Davis took the checkers ahead of Dymond and Brooks with Whiting and Hughes rounding out the top five. Kenny Zahrt mastered the start in round two to lead Pascarella, Lam - , son, Dymond and Brooks, but when they completed lap one Dymo nd was on top ahead of Zahrt, Davis, Pascarella , Brooks and Whiting. Dymond quickly gained a comfortable three-second cushion on the pack while Brooks was trying to negotiate a way arou nd Pascarella for th ird. On lap five Brooks found what he was loo king for and shot past Pascarella, bu t then Brooks missed a shi ft over a tabletop .and cased it hard. Brooks quickly regained his momentum and again set after the Suzuki rider. Dymo nd cruised to an easy win over Davis wi th Brooks taking th ird away from Pascarella. Whiting was fifth.
