Sim s sta yed on the gas and pa ssed Green over a double to rega in the lead . At th e finish it was Sim s first , Gr een se cond and Gr eg Franks third. Moto two agai n brought Sims o ut first, foll owed by G reen a nd Franks. A fall put Sim s in fou rth positio n and Gr een took "over th e lead . At th e chec kered flag , it was Green first, Franks second and Sims th ird . Green took th e overall wi n for th e da y with Sim s second overall. '. Wells wallops Ascot MX By Ken Faug ht GARDENA, CA, SEPT. 2 J aim e Well s topped Ste ve Gaeblei n a nd Danny Seyler in di vision o ne of the 125ec Begin ners at Ascot Park. First mot a action saw Seyler ge t th e ear ly j ump on th e gate to hol esh ot Well s, Gaeblein, Rob Cozad and Kevin Busell . Within th e first co u p le of laps, th e three opened up a fiveseco nd lead with Busell tak in g over fourth, a hea d of Sea n Wedgewood. As the ra ce pro gr essed , Sey ler slo wly managed to ga in an advantage o n th e pa ck with Wells and Gaeblei n co nunua lly batt ling for th e runner-up posit ion . At th e finish , Seyler scored th e easy win with Well s holding oft Gaeblein for second. Bussell was fourth, a few seconds ahea d of Wedgewood. Well s came back in the seco nd mot o to lead Gaeblei n, Wedgewood, Neil Hamada and Manuel Ruiz aro und th e first turn. Well s quickl y o pened up a sma ll lead o rtly to have Gaeb lein clo se back in o n the Honda rider. On th e seco nd lap, Wedgewood dr opped o u t of th e top five, adva nci ng H am ada to th ird Ruiz was now fourth o ver R ees T a tge. U p front, Gaeblein pe rsisted a t Well s' po sit ion. The two Honda pilots battled th e e'n tire mota with Well s maintaining the lead th e en ti re tim e. Gaeblein cha sed Well s to th e fin ish wh ere th ey placed ahead of Hamada, Tatge and Ru iz. First mot a winner Seyler fini shed a di sappointin g eig h th. Well s wrapped up th e overall with his 2I per forma nce. Ga ebl ein was second wi th hi s 3-2 o ver Seyler 's 1-8.
