After th is crash with Jeff Em ig (47), Damon Bradshaw remounted and passed 40 riders in four laps to claim the 125cc A St ock class title. Steve Ch ildress took the 250cc A Stock class championship._ 14 his Barr's Comp.-prepped Kawasaki. That win, along with a second a nd a third in the earlier heats, gave Brown th e runner-up spo t ahead of T y WalI ace (3-2-3), H onda-mounted johny Shield (11-6-6) and Ch arles Morris J r. (7-5-12). T odd Neal went 9-2-2 behind Pederso n to grab seco nd in th e Slack clas s while james Eick el (6-3-4), Ray Crumb (4-5-5) a nd Bryan jones (54-6) filled o ut th e top five. In th e Sch oolboy Slack and Modified classes it was McCl ear winn ing both titl es aft er holding off a mas sive week-lo ng assault by Hank Moree, j a ck Ri cks, G ene N aum ec a n d j erom y Buehl. Honda -mounted j imm y Button, just 14-year s-old, a nd newcomer Ryan Hughes also took part in th e fierce competition, but the week still belonged 10 McCl ear, who went 4-1-2 to win the Modified class a nd 1-2-2 in the Stock class. Button and Moree each won a moto while Ricks captured two . Moree used his win to jump up to second in the Stock class ahead of Ricks, Naurnec, and Bu tto n. Beuhl was the ru nner-up in the Modified division with Yamaha-mounted Hughes , Naumec, and Bu tto n folIowing in the third, Jourth, and fifth place positions. Fo ur d ifferent winners went down in the record books in the I 25cc and 250cc Stock and Modified C classes. Virginia 's William Cox topped the 125cc Sto ck class with an 8-2-1 showing in front of Kawasaki rider Darin Channel and Gary Dalton, In th e Modified cl a ss it wa s Honda-mounted Brittan Burlingame scoring the win with three second p lace heat rid es. Lee Ericson placed second with Ch annel in third. Arizona 's David -Mith celI pil ot ed his Honda to the 250cc C Stock clas s win in front of Brett Bierek a nd T ony Kohner, while in the Modified ra n ks California 's Mike Brewer scored th e overalI with a 2-9-2 ride. Corey Holcomb a nd Sean Ottal y ran second a nd th ird. Brown, wh o upset Pederson in the final 250cc B Modified rno to, ro lIed off three heat wi ns to take th e 125cc B Modified class title. Ch ad Montero p i loted hi s Yam aha to seco nd while Todd Neal pu t together a 3'-8-3 score for th ird. H ondamounted Randy Moody a nd Goodman, wh o went 1-26-2, placed fourth and fifth overall. In the Open Band C class T exas' Mark Benson notched the win with M ike Brown rolled off three moto wins to become the 125cc B Modified class champ. Ty Wallace claimed the runner-up position. a strong 1-1-4 showing. Hare scrambles star Tony Hendon, third in the o pen ing moto, went down in a firstturn pileup at the start of the second heat and dropped out. Wallace Fincher rode to the ru nner-up spot with a 5-2-1 ta lly wh il e Shane Ken ned y pushed his Yama ha to third. David Crawford and Ma tt • KelIey were nex 1. Florida's Timmy Ferry p laced his Honda a t the front of th e 85cc ( 1213) Stock class in the opening heat then backed it up with a third and another first 10 snare th e number one pIa te, Clint Carlton was seco nd with j eff Dement and Steve Olson following, while Craig Decker rounded out the top five. Dement later improved on hi s finish with a Modified class win, beatin g Ferry and Olson with a 42-4 score. Ezra Lusk, who led going into the final mota with two wins, fail ed to fini sh. Deck er a nd BT Racin g Kawasaki rid er Davey Yezek a lso recorded top five numbers. In the 5 Icc Automatic class, Michiga n's Chris Consid in e took the titl e with a fourth and two runner-up finis hes. Eri c AlIann co uld n 't close th e ga p on Considine .after a firstrno to 10th, even though he won th e las t two heats.
