The tri o had pulled away from the pack , but still had a big gap to bridge to ca tch the lead ers. Late in the mot o , Schiel saw hi s o p p o rtu n ity a n d passed Speight over th e jump. Speight was then all over Schiel in a repass attempt. That pass attempt was not to be as time ran out with O 'Bri en ta king the win. Schiel took second and Speigh t received th ird pl ace honors. Rounding ou t th e to p five slots were R ich ie a nd W.J. Bradbury. At th e sta rt o f mo to two , S ight pulled a full length whee lie down th e start straigh t to take the lead . Spencer smo ked o ut of th e gate "riding a n outside line to claim second with Schiel hol di n g off the pack. Sp eight had his hands fu ll with Spencer , who was trying every line possibl e a nd som e that weren ' t, in a ttem p ts to take the lead. Spencer 's co nstant pressuring pa id o ff as he took the lead wi th only two laps remainin g. Speight was not tak ing th is well and was ri ding wildly in a n effort to regain the lead. As th e leaders headed for the checkered , Spei gh t st u ffe d u n derneat h Spencer's Yamaha retaking the lea d a long with th e mot o and overall vic tory. Schiel took third this time to grab second overall, while O 'Bri en p ulled a fifth o ut o f th e seco nd mo to to ta ke third overall. Roundin g out th e to p five were W.].
