On that last lap, I had a run around the outside and thought, 'I'm just going to go for it.' I had to. I didn't want to come in second, especially at the season opener. It was great. I can't thank my team enough," said Varnes. Defending class Champion, Cory Texter (G&G Racing/Roof Systems of Dallas, TX, Yamaha MT-07) was able to hold off Danny Eslick (Scott Powersports/R&D Machine, Kawasaki Ninja 650) for the last podium spot. Saturday was a much easier night for the defending champion as Texter posted a con- vincing win over Rispoli and Eslick. Varnes had charged up to third and was once again closing on Rispoli when his Kawasaki gave up on lap nineteen. Eslick, Ben Lowe (Roof Systems of Dallas, TX/Bruce Lowe Excavat- ing, Yamaha MT-07) and Morgen Mischler (Weirbach Racing/Kawasaki USA, Kawasaki Ninja 650) rounded out the top five. CN The Production Twins class saw two winners, Cory Texter (1) on Saturday night and Ryan Varnes (68) on Friday night. James Rispoli (43) had a solid ride with two second-place finishes, which was the highlight of Harley- Davidson's weekend. It was the brand's only top-five finish in either of the Twins classes.
